What was the highlight of Hotel Betania
Clean, friendly, good location, but cramped, thin walls, and insufficient wi-fi for working.
The staff was friendly. Breakfast, and location were excellent - I walked 4 blocks to the nightlife leading up to Parque de los Novios. The room was clean.
The property listed desktop friendly workspace and free wi-fi, but the wi-fi signal was weak, and not sufficient to work. From my second floor room, I could hear everything in the lobby and breakfast area (and imagined they could hear me). The room (particularly the bathroom) was cramped and windowless, and I had to squeeze to the side to close the bathroom and shower doors. No hot water (though that seems to be common in this area so I feel neutral about that).

Budget hotel and manage expectations
Close to the main plaza and dining areas in Santa Marta.
No elevators so beware if you are older or have large bags. Photos shown exaggerate the light, it was extremely dark and kind of dingy. The floating table in our room was damaged and barely being held up. The bathroom is very basic, and the water was barely warm.
